  10.  AB    OBJECTIVE: To investigate the prevalence of HIV infection in
  11.        homo/bisexual males in a public STD clinic, and the possible
  12.        modifications of the risk behaviors. METHODS: From 01.10.89 through
  13.        31.12.93 we have collected data on all homo/bisexual males who consulted
  14.        in the STD clinic. HIV testing and counseling was offered. We analyze
  15.        rish behaviors, condom use, HIV testing and results in these five years.
  16.        RESULTS: We attended 820 consultations of 577 homo/bisexuals males.
  17.        13.9% refused the practice HIV test. The overall HIV seroprevalence was
  18.        8.5%, 12/184 clients seroconverted during this period (6.5/100
  19.        persons/year). Unsafe sex predicted HIV infection (OR = 2.14,95%
  20.        CI:1.07-4.37). TABULAR DATA, SEE ABSTRACT VOLUME. CONCLUSIONS: The HIV
  21.        seroprevalence in homosexual males in the South of Spain is lower than
  22.        in others european countries. Changes in the risk behaviors have been
  23.        reached, but it's necessary to maintain preventive interventions in this
  24.        population.
